Compressed air calculators and compressor selector
Nine calculators and a compressor selector to size, test and cost your compressed air system. Free, on the plant floor or on a phone.
Compressor selector
Tell us flow, pressure and air type
See which Comptech ranges cover your duty. No prices. Our team confirms the exact model.
Use the flow your plant needs at the point of use plus about 10 to 20 percent for growth. Ranges come from Comptech's published data.
Compressed air leak cost
Leak flow from hole size and pressure, converted to power and rupees.
Estimate for a sharp-edged hole. Use it to rank repairs.
Compressor output (tank fill test)
Fill a known volume and time it. Gives free air delivery.
FAD = V × (P2 − P1) ÷ (t × atmospheric pressure).
FAD to normal cubic metres
Convert free air delivery at site conditions to Nm³/h (0 °C, 1.013 bar, dry).
Magnus vapour-pressure formula. Indicative only.
Chiller capacity needed
Cooling capacity from the water flow you circulate and the temperature drop across the process.
Water only. Add a margin for pump heat and future load. 1 TR = 3.517 kW.
Cost of filter pressure drop
Every bar of pressure drop makes the compressor work harder. A common rule of thumb is about 7 percent more power per bar.
Rule of thumb. A clean, correctly sized filter keeps the drop low.
Condensate load estimate
Water that leaves the air as it is cooled from intake humidity to a +3 °C pressure dew point.
Assumes all intake moisture is compressed and cooled to +3 °C at line pressure. Indicative only.
Purge air cost
A heatless dryer spends part of your compressed air on regeneration. Purge is often 15 to 20 percent of dryer flow. Ask us for your model.
Purge air is generated by your compressor. Indicative only.
Energy cost and saving
Use the motor rating and your typical load. The saving figure is yours to set.
Approximate. Uses motor rating × load as input power, which ignores motor losses.
Receiver fill time
How long a compressor takes to bring a receiver up to pressure.
Ideal estimate. Real fill time is longer as the compressor works against rising pressure.
Air quality
Build an ISO 8573-1 class code
Pick particle, water and oil classes and see what equipment they need.
