Omega Air · Condensate management
Condensate drains and water-oil separators
Remove condensate from every low point without losing compressed air, then separate the oil before discharge. Electronic, timer and mechanical drains from 13 to 420 bar, with Omega water-oil separators. VIMCO supplies the range.

Why it matters
The most ignored part of a compressed air system
Omega's point is simple. Quality equipment upstream is wasted if condensate is not discharged from the system.
If condensate stays in
- Inconsistent dry air supply and production problems
- Rust and damage to machinery
- Freeze-up in cold conditions
- Filters and separators cannot do their job
If it is drained untreated
Condensate from lubricated compressors carries oil. Omega notes it is roughly 95 percent water and 5 percent oil, and that discharge of oily water is restricted by environmental rules.
- Drain it automatically at each low point
- Pipe it to a water-oil separator
- Discharge only the treated water, within local limits
The path
Drain, collect, separate, discharge
Install a drain at every point where condensate collects.
- Drain at the sourceFit drains on moisture separators, coalescing filters, air receivers, dryers and drip legs.
- CollectPipe all drain lines to one point, with a condensate distributor where several drains meet.
- Separate the oilA water-oil separator removes the oil from the condensate.
- Discharge or disposeSend the treated water to drain within your local limits and dispose of the oil properly.
Which drain type?
| Type | How it works | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Electronic | Level sensor opens the valve only when condensate is present | Most plant air, no air loss |
| Timer controlled | Solenoid opens on an adjustable timer | High pressure lines, simple installs |
| Mechanical float | Float opens a valve, no power needed | Sites without power at the drain point |
| Manual | Operator opens a valve | Occasional drain points only |
Main products
Drains and separators
Pressure ratings are Omega's published maxima for each series.

EMD and IED electronic drains
Level-sensed drains that open only when condensate is present, so no compressed air is lost.

TD M timer drains
Solenoid drains with adjustable open and interval times. TD 420M reaches 420 bar.

AOK mechanical drains
Float-operated drains with no power supply. AOK16B and 16F, AOK 13PA plastic, AOK 20B and 20SS stainless, AOK 50B and 50SS high pressure.

WOSm and WOS separators
Remove oil from compressor condensate before discharge. WOS CD is the condensate distributor that collects several drain lines.

Condensate load estimate
Water that leaves the air as it is cooled from intake humidity to a +3 °C pressure dew point.
Assumes all intake moisture is compressed and cooled to +3 °C at line pressure. Indicative only.
